Project description

Renovation and restoration measures for the hospitals of the Martin Luther University were implemented at various locations in the City of Halle.

All buildings were erected in the late 19th century and are listed as a group in the historic preservation register.

At the Magdeburg Road site, a new kidney and transplant center as well as a poli-operation room were built for the clinical center. The work was partially carried out during clinic operational hours with close consultation with the clinical staff and protection of the occupied areas.

The Julius Kühn Road site is used by the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. Its buildings were built in the late 19th century as a Psychiatric Hospital. Planned as a symmetric building, the complex consists of a central main building and axially arranged residential and commercial buildings and a chapel.

Additonally, the former director’s villa, located a bit farther away was converted into a 16- bed ward for the mentally ill.
